I watched the light spill over your chest as I awoke.
My fingertips, of their own accord, moved to trace the path - so lightly - over your bronzed chest.
You stirred
I stilled
Even in slumber you are magnificent.
My ears listened to the even gentle breath that lightly lifted your heartbeat nearer to my cheek.
I heard the song as its twin in my chest echoed its tune.
Your melody
my harmony
A contented sigh escaped your lips.
Awakened by the gentle rain, its patter soothing and romantic,
I watched you sleep, my lips only inches from your own, my toes sliding along your calf.
You moved
I melted.
Shudders echoed through us both and again I was helpless.
Now, I have eased from the bed in which you still warm
and I sit on the porch and watch the rain knowing,
without a doubt,
that today,
You'll touch
I'll surrender.
I can resist you no more.
